Children's Healthcare of Atlanta has partnered with Kids Health First Pediatric Alliance to create an American Board of Pediatrics Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program centered on the key training principles of Strong4Life.

Incorporating standard assessment tools and motivational interviewing techniques to improve the effectiveness of childhood obesity counseling

Program Description:
This quality improvement activity provides Georgia pediatricians the opportunity to implement Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Strong4Life provider training. The training and techniques of Strong4Life have been shown to improve discussion and documentation of nutrition, activity and lifestyle factors that contribute to childhood obesity. The MOC program uses motivational interviewing techniques and standard assessment tools to promote consistent evidence-based obesity prevention messages in patient encounters. Practices will implement standardized history, physical exam points and set wellness goals at every 6-11 year-old well child visit. Physicians will be assessed monthly for quality improvement based on the adoption of Strong4Life’s Healthy Habits Principles.

The Program is designed for:
  • Board Certified Pediatricians who are looking to obtain ABP MOC Part 4, Performance in Practice credit.
  • Physicians within their 5 year MOC cycle – 25 Part 4 MOC points
  • Physicians looking to enroll in the ABP’s MOC program are required to complete ONE performance in practice activity. Participation in this activity counts towards initial enrollment in MOC.
  • Physicians must have access to attend Strong4Life Provider Training.
  • The Stong4Life MOC Program requires active participation for 6 consecutive months.
